Dear friends, it excites me to once again have the opportunity to share some of God’s truth with you through this blog! Inspired by a conversation our leadership team had on our San Diego retreat, I wrote this with the intention of starting a conversation about what modesty means to God’s girls. The original version can be found on my personal blog. Enjoy!
“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” (1 Peter 3:3-4)“I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.” (1 Timothy 2:9-10)
- freedom from conceit or vanity
- propriety (appropriateness) in dress, speech, or conduct
- Girls are attractive.
- Immodesty reflects and is rooted in insecurity.
- Modesty is a selfless way to love our brothers and show others the beautiful character of God.
