Hi Girls!

Today is a bittersweet day. It’s sweet because I get to introduce you Anne Taylor, the newest member of our fabulous volunteer team, who will be stepping in to serve as the Managing Editor of Know Your Value as well as our Director of Marketing. Bittersweet because it means Natalie will be moving on from both these roles with Wonderfully Made as she has an exciting adventure ahead, but the good news is she’s still very much a part of our community and our friendship will of course continue.

Anne and I met two summer ago when our church hosted her Ride:Well Tour team on their bike trip from San Diego to Seattle, which raised awareness and funds for Blood:Water Mission. Anne lives in Colorado with her high school sweetheart and husband, Spencer. She has a fabulous blog appropriately titled Anne the Adventurer. Anne has already blown me away with her passion and commitment to Wonderfully Made and I’m so thankful that God reconnected us at just the right time.

Below, we get to know Anne, and learn about some of her passions and interests! xo, Allie
Welcome to the team, Anne! Tell us a bit about yourself.

Thank you! I am so excited to be a part of this community! Well, I am freelance writer and blogger, and live in my home state of Colorado with my husband, Spencer. I graduated from Gordon College in Massachusetts with a degree in History, and when it came time to find a job, I realized that the reason I loved history so much was because I am passionate about stories. I love getting to know people and what they’re passionate about, and seek to equip them with the resources and encouragement they need to share those passions with other people. I think this will help create a better world.
Why are you personally drawn to Wonderfully Made?

When I first heard about the organization when Allie and I were talking a few years ago, I was thrilled to know that there was a community forming to support young women as they struggle to discover and own their value, especially in this competitive and pressure-filled world. I myself have struggled with anxiety and an eating disorder for most of my life, and know that spirituality, community, and my creativity were (and still are) critical in my recovery and path towards living a fruitful, outward focused life. The mission of WM really fits hand in hand with what I feel made to do: be a voice and a helping hand for others as they seek to discover what they’re passionate about and share that passion with others.
Tell us about your blog and your love for writing.
I have always loved writing, and have kept a journal every year since I was about 12 years old. It is such a powerful outlet for me. I find it so interesting how words can be crafted together, in articles, comedy, screenplays, poetry, songs, etc… to share a message in a unique way. Pictures may be worth a thousand words, but there is something special about writing a story and sharing it with others that just strikes a cord in me.

After I graduated from college in 2010, I set out on a cross-country cycling trip called the Ride:Well Tour, and kept up a blog to document my experience on that trip. Once I got back, though, the blog was over and I was struggling to find a job as a freelance writer. I just happened to stumble over amazing blogs like Makeunder My LifeKendi Everyday, and Jen Loves Kev. I was so inspired by their zest for life and prowess as young female business owners.  I started Anne the Adventurer immediately as a way to document my post-college life and join the blogging community for good. I’ve loved watching it evolve over the years; it’s an amazing gift in my life.
When you’re not writing, what do you like to do?

I am really passionate about television and film, and love to create my own short films. Also, Spencer and I love watching shows like The Office, Parks and Recreation, and Modern Family. We love laughing together. As Colorado natives, we love being outside cycling, running and skiing in the mountains. And as a history nerd, I love diving into a good biography or documentary. My favorite book on American history is John Adams by David McCullough.

What is inspiring you right now?

This verse from Joshua has been so encouraging to me lately:
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. – Joshua 1:9
