One-Piece Lovin’

by Alexandra Evjen

It’s easy to dream about the beach and the warm, fun-filled summer days when our toes to the tip of our nose are numb. However, when the temperatures finally start to rise again and the time comes to put on that swimsuit many of us find ourselves tempted to believe the lies that our bodies aren’t good enough, and can start obsessing over imperfections that we see.

These are thoughts quickly rob of us of the joy of experiencing the sun on our faces and waves of water pushing us around in the ocean. One of the biggest delights we have is experiencing the beauty that the Lord has created with nature by swimming in vast oceans, tall waterfalls, calm lakes and small pools.

Today I want to share some fashionable swimsuit ideas with you that not only will fulfill their purpose of helping us to enjoy one of the most fun things on earth, but they will also allow you to express your style with modesty. Confidence only comes from knowing the Truth, but these swimsuits definitely will help too!

Whether you’re feminine to the bone and enjoy pretty floral prints or you lean toward geometric and edgy shapes or you’re a simple gal that looks for the always classic striped patterns—there’s something for everyone here…

FLORAL

I love how this swimsuit by DKNY takes the femininity of the pattern even further by adding ruffles. The shape gives plenty of coverage, the pattern is very concealing and the colors are complementary of any complexion.

MARC by Marc Jacobs has made a beautiful floral one-piece that is perfect for curvaceous figures, especially women that have a larger bust. The under-wire support is a very helpful designer detail, and the added belt that ties at the smallest part of the waist is very flattering for those with hips. Plus, the busy pattern conceals any insecurities around the stomach area.

GEOMETRIC
A fashion trend that is very popular right now is wearing geometric patterns.

I love this black and white bathing suit by Red Carter because the colors are timeless, the pattern creates a really cool optical illusion and the cut is a bit more unique than the average one piece. I will say, however, that this swimsuit would only be modest on those that have a smaller cup size. Sometimes halter bathing suits like this just don’t give enough support for those with larger chests.

This swimsuit by Zimmermann is amazing. The color combination is so modern and the geometric pattern looks like a beautiful kaleidoscope. The shape of this swimsuit is also nice because it gives plenty of coverage and support.

STRIPES
Stripes are timeless, and are more in style than ever before.

This sweet swimsuit by Juicy Couture is perfect for retro fashion lovers out there. The vertical stripes are flattering, the straps and cups for support are there for curvy women, and the swim skirt is adorable and modest in one!

I love this one-shouldered number by DKNY just because it’s a cut that is different from the rest. The placement of the strips is also incredibly flattering.

After reading this fashion post, do you find yourself excited or scared to shop for a swimsuit? If you find yourself scared, are you willing to let your fear rob you of your enjoyment of God’s creation?
